Welcome Steve Burnett - Director, BoldLabs

We are excited to welcome Steve Burnett to the BOLD team as our newest Director for BoldLabs!

Steve has over 15 years of experience in digital marketing, paid media, display media, eCommerce, SEO/SEM, email marketing, lead generation, and brand awareness. He’s worked in both corporate and agency environments and led B2B and B2C teams. Steve has also previously worked for companies/brands like Aosom, Teledyne FLIR, and Yahoo. This father of two and massive University of Oregon Ducks fan hopes to bring his deep applied knowledge of global eCommerce marketplaces and other specialties to the team.

We wanted to get to know more about Steve in his own words. Here's what he had to say...

Where do you call home?

King City, OR, about 25 minutes south of Portland, Oregon. I also have a home in Bend, OR, where I grew up. (It's still my favorite town!)

Why did you decide to join Bold Strategies?

I've been in the digital marketing and eCommerce industry for well over 15 years, and, as always, the industry continues to change rapidly. The bulk of my experience has been in the PPC and Performance Marketing disciplines. However, in the past five years, my focus has shifted to retail media/marketing as new platforms have quickly emerged that dramatically increase the opportunities available to eCommerce brands. Bold is way out in front of this building wave, and I'm thrilled to be part of this expert team.

What's the first thing you ever bought on Amazon.com? What does that say about you?

The first thing I bought on Amazon was a sticker activity book for my daughter and a special coffee mug for my dad; both very specialized items are not available in physical retail stores. My next round of purchases included several pairs of unique socks and toys for the kids. Again, very one-of-a-kind items that are not easily sourced from retail stores. And then, I was hooked.

What is that one song that's the soundtrack to your life? If you're not a music lover, what's your favorite book?

Music has always been a big part of my life. The one album that goes waaay back that I almost never tire of is Bob Marley's Babylon by Bus. I also love just about anything from Kenny Chesney. But depending on the mood, you might hear everything from Italian cafe music, classical, heavy metal to backyard bbq music filling the background.

If you could hop on a plane and not have to worry about expenses, where would you go?

I'm an avid mountain biker, and I hear that Rogers, AR has some pretty epic trails, so don't tempt me. Otherwise, I would love to grab my family and go down to the Florida Keys and Caribbean islands.

"I'm happiest when I'm..."

Hangin' with my wife and kiddos. I have a nine-year-old daughter, and my son is seven, so every day is an adventure. It's amazing to watch them beam with excitement over the most mundane activities like visiting a zoo, riding a train, or blowing bubbles. They bring excitement back to my world. And if you really want to call it a top-10 day, throw in a morning mountain bike ride on one of my favorite trails.

"People would be surprised to know that..."

I love physical activities like mountain biking, snowboarding, and paddleboarding. But equally enjoyable are the quieter, more cerebral activities that I enjoy. I'm currently cultivating a small bonsai garden in my backyard, and tending to my freshwater aquarium is one of my favorite hobbies.
