Welcome Crystal Phelps - Sr Director, Retail Strategy

BOLD is excited to welcome our newest Senior Retail Strategy Director, Crystal Phelps, to the team!

Crystal is passionate about marketing and eCommerce. Before joining BOLD, this California-native and award-winning executive with more than 20 years of experience combining analytics, insight, and creativity was tasked to expand market share and grow revenue for some of the world’s biggest brands like Nissan and Razer. Crystal joins BOLD, bringing her experience in qualitative and quantitative market research, brand positioning and revitalization, omnichannel strategy, and more.

We wanted to get to know more about Crystal in her own words. Here's what she had to say...

What's your hometown?

San Diego, California, is home—the greatest city on earth! I grew up on the beach, and my kids grew up on the beach; it’s a really special place. I call Nashville, Tennessee, home now. I moved here about 3 years ago with my family, and I love it. It is very different from Southern California, but the restaurant and music scene are great. I enjoy the seasons and still can’t get over how green it is here.

Why did you decide to join Bold Strategies?

I had been working at Nissan as a Senior Business Analyst since Covid started. I enjoyed the challenge, but let’s face it, it isn’t eCommerce and Marketing, which is who and what I am. Joining Bold Strategies not only lets me do what I am good at, but it offers a great challenge in helping clients grow their retail programs. I really enjoyed my interactions with the team, and I’m super excited about working with them.

What's the first thing you ever bought on Amazon.com? What does that say about you?

A book… couldn’t tell you the title of it, but it tells you how long I have been in eCommerce and working with Amazon.

What's your favorite book?

I’m actually a textbook reader. I love, love, love Marketing and eCommerce textbooks. One of my favorite non-textbook books is Don’t Make Me Think. I’ve read it a million times.

What's your favorite place?

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

"I'm happiest when I'm..."

Relaxing in my big lounge chair on my porch, watching the sun go down over the trees in the backyard at the end of the day.

"People would be surprised to know that..."

I ride and collect motorcycles, more specifically, choppers.
