Walmart Marketplace Rolls Out Review Accelerator

There is a new review generation option for Walmart Marketplace. In an email to sellers last week, Walmart announced the launch of the Review Accelerator Program.  Seller Center users can enroll items, and Walmart will then encourage customers to share their feedback after purchasing an item on Walmart.com.  Customers will receive a $3 reward toward their next purchase after submitting an accepted review.

Marketplace sellers are charged a $10 service fee per incentivized review submitted.  The program allows a maximum of five incentivized reviews per participating item.

For seasoned marketplace sellers, it all might sound a little familiar.  Amazon ran a similar accelerator, Early Reviewer Program, in which sellers could pay $60 to have Amazon incentivize the first five reviews for enrolled listings.   Amazon ended this seller feature in early 2021, noting that they were focusing on more effective review generation initiatives like Vine.

The new Review Accelerator Program joins other review generation services already in place at Walmart.  The retailer continues to offer the Spark Reviewer Program, a program run by Bazaarvoice that allows customers to submit reviews of items they have purchased and get free items in return.
